Jeep has finally revealed their mysterious three-row crossover SUV at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. The vehicle is called the Jeep Grand Commander, as many expected. It looks just like the vehicle captured through spy photos last month, and also similar to a bigger, stretched out Compass.
The new Jeep Grand Commander comes in at 192 inches long, which makes it two inches longer than the Grand Cherokee. It also has a wheelbase that’s four inches shorter than the Grand Cherokee, and it’s two inches narrower as well.
There is only one powertrain on the Jeep Grand Commander; a 2.0L four-cylinder making 231 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired to a 9-speed automatic with either two-wheel or four-wheel drive.
What really sets the Grand Cherokee apart, however, is its large passenger capacity. This Jeep will be able to hold up to seven passengers making it a great candidate for Jeep lovers who simply need more interior space. It would certainly fill Jeep’s three-row vehicle gap. However, the question is, will this vehicle be released for the U.S. Market?
Currently the Jeep Grand Commander is only exclusively for the Chinese market. However, since we did see one here in the U.S., we’re left questioning if us Americans could soon see Grand Commander here at home.
What we do know is that the three-row Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are set to debut here in the states sometime in 2019. So if you’re holding out for a three-row Jeep, you shouldn’t have to wait too much longer. As always, we’ll make sure to keep you updated with any further information about these new Jeep SUVs right here, so stay tuned for more.
