There’s never been a supercharged, factory-direct, 707 horsepower crate engine kit on offer — until SEMA 2017, when the new Mopar “Hellcrate” HEMI Engine Kit was unleashed! This new engine kit debuted at the 2017 SEMA aftermarket industry show at the start of the month. Mopar decided to offer this kit based on high demand from enthusiasts, and the result doesn’t disappoint!
According to Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA, “This ultimate powertrain option fits the needs of owners and fans who demand iconic performance.” After the Challenger SRT Demon’s release earlier this year, that iconic HEMI engine has seen a popularity spike. This engine kit provides a pretty simple setup. It’s a relatively simple “plug and play” with the 6.2L supercharged Crate HEMI Engine assembly. Mopar also offers the assembly for enthusiasts or builders intent on the best performance. The kit makes sure that your insane 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque is met with real, factory-backed quality.
With the Mopar “Hellcrate” HEMI Engine Kit, you get a powertrain control module, power distribution center, chassis harness, engine wiring harness, accelerator pedal, ground jumper, oxygen sensors, charge air temperature sensors, and fuel pump control module for the 6.2-liter supercharged Crate HEMI Engine. The powertrain control module is unlocked and already set to the factory 707-horsepower calibration. Although your modern Dodge muscle car might be an automatic, Mopar says that this kit is optimized for use with manual transmission like the Tremec Magnum transmission kit.
Anyone building with the “Hellcrate” kit will also need a Front End Accessory Drive Kit, which includes an alternator, power steering pump, belts, pulleys, and more essential equipment. It also has additional engine accessory hardware components, which will come in handy when installing the Mopar “Hellcrate” HEMI Engine Kit.
The Mopar “Hellcrate” HEMI Engine Kit is intended for pre-1976 street and off-road vehicles. It ships in unique “Hellcrate” packaging and in-depth information sheets. You’ll get all the installation requirements laid out, as well as some helpful tips! The “Hellcrate” assembly is available at $19,530 MSRP, and the “Hellcrate” engine kit is available for $2,195 MSPR. When you buy them together, you also get a three year, unlimited mileage warranty.
The 2017 Mopar SEMA exhibit showed off 13 FCA vehicles, including a lineup of Dodge muscle cars. The Mopar “Hellcrate” HEMI Engine Kit is featured on a 1970 Plymouth Superbird Tribute. Mark Worman built this beauty with the powerful 6.2L supercharged engine kit this time around! The Mopar exhibit also showed off a modified Dodge Durango SRT, a Dodge pickup, and several Dodge muscle cars. Two 840-horsepower 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon models and a 707-horsepower 2018 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat featured prominently.
