New 2018 Jeep Wrangler Testing Videos

A member of JLWrangler forum happened to catch several seconds of video of the upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler doing some field testing. The Wrangler was having some fun at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Silver Lake, Michigan. The two videos captured show the new Wrangler sprinting across relatively flat sand, showing off its traction and suspension. This follows about a month after the new Wrangler was spotted testing its capability in Moab, Utah.

These two testing areas present two different terrain challenges for the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler. Current 2017 all-weather-capable 4×4 Jeeps have six traction control modes: mud, gravel, on-road, snow, rock, and sand. Jeep prides itself in providing SUVs to conquer any terrain type and let you explore off-road. These two recent field excursions could be meant to test or check the new Wrangler’s capabilities on those terrain types.

The Silver Lake Sand Dune test shows the new Wrangler racing across uneven, sandy ground. While the details of the Jeep itself are still covered in camo and sheetmetal, the videos show a good amount of suspension travel. They also suggest that the upcoming Jeep has plenty of capability and can get itself into and out of plenty of trouble. There also appears to be little to no drama from the Wrangler as it speeds across sandy terrain and charges through puddles. During its Moab field testing, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler probably saw a lot more steep rock-crawling challenges. It was spotted near the “Baby Lion’s Back” off-road trail. That trail is full of slick rock terrain, so it’s familiar testing ground for off-road capability.
